About International Institute of Biotechnology and Toxicology (IIBAT)
The present day IIBAT was established as a farm, “The Coromandel Indag Farm”, in 1978 – a non-profit research trust recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India under the DSIR scheme. Later the Coromandel Indag Research Centre was instituted – the first time an Indian-owned pesticide manufacturer opened its research facilities to industry and government institutions for trials. It was renamed Fredrick Institute of Plant Protection and Toxicology (FIPPAT) and registered as a society in 1985. In May 2002 FIPPAT became IIBAT. In 2004 IIBAT became a GLP-certified Contract Research Organization delivering services in Toxicology, Analytical Chemistry, Ecotoxicology, Genetic Toxicology, Radioisotope studies, etc.
